About CA Driver Safety Center
Know your rights. Stay safe on San Diego roads.
What this site is
CA Driver Safety Center is an independent driver education resource focused on San Diego County and California. We publish step-by-step guides to roadside emergencies, vehicle impound recovery, accident procedures, and California towing law — written in plain English, citing real Vehicle Code sections, and updated as the law changes.
Who we are
This resource is maintained by a small editorial team led by David Park, Consumer Rights Advocate. David Park has spent over a decade writing about consumer protection, driver rights, and California vehicle law. He researches towing regulations, impound procedures, and roadside safety for San Diego County drivers.
Legal content is reviewed by Maria Delgado, Paralegal, Consumer Protection. Reviews legal content for accuracy against current California Vehicle Code.
How we keep the site online
This site is an independent driver education resource. Phone numbers in 'Need a Tow' callouts route to vetted licensed San Diego County tow companies that compensate this resource for referrals. We only refer companies we believe will treat drivers fairly.
That means: when you tap a "Need a Tow Right Now?" callout in one of our guides, you reach a real, vetted, licensed San Diego County tow company. We do not run answering services. We do not sell your information. We do not collect any data when you tap a phone number — you're calling a tow truck, that's it.
What we are not
- We are not a tow company.
- We are not a law firm. Nothing on this site is legal advice.
- We are not affiliated with the City of San Diego, the County of San Diego, the California DMV, or the California Highway Patrol.
Editorial policy
Every guide on this site cites primary sources where available — California Vehicle Code sections, CHP rate surveys, official agency phone numbers, and direct quotes from city ordinances. When we estimate a number (for example, the typical fee at a contracted impound lot), we say so and recommend you verify by calling.
If you find an error, please email editor@cadriversafety.com. We update guides on a rolling basis and stamp the "last verified" date on every page.
